Courtney Elliott, what do you do for work and how you spend your time?
Currently, most of my time and energy goes to my family and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I have three boys who are very active in sports. I always make sure I have a good meal on the table as food is the way to their heart. Life is busy but when we can we sit down and have a family dinner. I believe this is key to a healthy family and healthy relationships.
I try to do most of my volunteering around organizations and teams they are a part of. I realize it goes by so fast and I don’t want to miss a thing. Yoga, Tennis Or a good walk is often part of my day if possible. Nothing keeps me more grounded, calm and at peace than my weekly yoga practices. You can ask my husband as he will send me there sometimes!
Although I stopped working for our family business about seven years ago to give full attention to my family, I do keep involved. Our business, Covert Auto Group, has been lucky to stay in business for over one hundred years and I am proud to represent the fifth generation. I still help with advertising and marketing a little by doing commercials and radio spots and attending events for Covert Cadillac.
Describe your personal style:
Boho Chic! I love a good pair of flare or bell-bottom jeans with a fun top and a good belt. I love it when I find items in stores that have a 60’s and 70’s flare. My go-to is definitely jeans and a good pair of boots. I have an obsession with boots … all kinds! But I have to admit it is fun every now and then to dress up and throw on a fun dress and heels.
Do you have a favorite RB piece or outfit that stands out or is you feel good to go to?
I have two! A pair of Trask booties – overtime I wear them I get compliments! And a fun and edgy Fur Jacket from Tart Collections.
Why do you shop at RedBird Boutique?
Well, first of all, I love the staff! Maureen and Lauren know my style and always push me a little out of my comfort zone. They will bring things to me that I would never pull off the rack and help accessorize. But what drew me to Redbird initially was its uniqueness. They have pieces and accessories that you don’t see anywhere else. Love their jewelry and handbags!
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I skipped my graduation from UT Business School and went to Vegas to see The Grateful Dead and Dave Matthews. No regrets!!!
Do you have a winning party trick?
Flowers! I love to arrange flowers and would love to own a flower shop.
What is your daily mantra?
Be present. We are so easily distracted these days and if you aren’t paying attention, taking it all in and living in the moment life will pass you by!
What is your biggest pet peeve?
Group texts where everyone replies every ten seconds and your phone is going crazy! It makes me think there is an Emergency!
Who has been your greatest mentor in business? In life?
My Dad – we call him the wise man. He has the best advice for any topic – whether business, worries, struggles or parenting. He always puts things in perspective and puts you at ease and constantly reminds you what is important in life.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
If there was a movie made about your life, who would play you?
Jennifer Anniston. I am Polly in Along came Polly and Jennifer in Friends. I don’t like things on my calendar and can’t commit… especially way in advance!!! My husband always laughs and says he is lucky I said yes!
What song would HAVE to be in the soundtrack?
Tiny Dancer – Elton John.
How would you like to be remembered?
Wonderful Mother, Wife, Sister, Daughter, and Friend. Kind, respectful, patient and supportive.
